With a heavy sigh and closed eyes, I meditated for inspiration. The sky was starlit as I spirited away to a realm of sweetness and bliss. Hibiscuses bloomed and hummingbirds swarmed profusely. I gazed in awe as they desperately fluttered and danced, in search of the flower with the sweetest nectar. Suddenly, she emerged weeping for affection. Together, their cries created harmonizing hums, soft rhythmic beats, unanimously drumming to the beat of my heart. So we drummed, oh how we drummed! Until kaleidoscope of colors exploded. Sometimes I wonder if they knew...they were only Illustrated figments of imagination.

This drawing is Inspired by the Roman mythological narrative, about the goddess of nature, Flora. Encircled by hibiscuses and humming birds, this particular depiction presents a Caribbean take on the spring goddess. In this rendition, she is earthly, tropical and connected to nature. Grounded and strong, yet soft and graceful. As a result, the color pallet is dominated by various shades of red which is associated with passion and pink, to convey femininity and highlight her nurturing qualities.
